WASHINGTON, D.C. February 6, 2024 – Executive Director of the GPS Innovation Alliance Lisa Dyer issued the following statement on President Trump’s nomination of Ms. Arielle Roth as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, serving concurrently as Administrator of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA):

“The GPS Innovation Alliance congratulates Ms. Roth on her nomination. She will play a key role in the national effort to expand broadband coverage, properly manage federal spectrum holdings, and guard against harmful interference. Ms. Roth brings years of experience serving the public interest, and we look forward to working with her to continue NTIA’s vital efforts to ensure the integrity, continuity, availability, and resiliency of satellite-based services like GPS and other space-based position, navigation, and timing (PNT) systems.

It is vital that the United States remain the world’s leading and preferred provider of space-based PNT systems that meet the stringent requirements necessary to support military operations, public safety, critical infrastructure, precision agriculture, transportation, sports and fitness enthusiasts, and other commercial customers. The GPS industry alone has contributed more than $1.4 trillion to the U.S. economy; we must ensure the regulatory environment continues to enable companies to create innovative applications that positively transform our economy and our lives. We look forward to working with Ms. Roth in her role as Administrator and with NTIA staff to advance strategies and policies that promote, protect, and enhance these space systems, their receivers, and devices.”
