WASHINGTON, October 26, 2021 – Executive Director of the GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA), J. David Grossman, issued the following statement on President Biden nominating Jessica Rosenworcel to a new term and as Chairwoman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Gigi Sohn to a term as a new FCC Commissioner, and Alan Davidson to serve as head of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA):
“The GPS Innovation Alliance and the GPS industry congratulate Jessica Rosenworcel on her nomination to continue leading the FCC as a Senate-confirmed Chair. During her time as acting Chairwoman, she has shown distinguished leadership, winning praise from her fellow commissioners. We are confident that she will continue advancing the FCC’s mission through her deep experience and expertise.
“GPSIA congratulates Gigi Sohn on her nomination as an FCC Commissioner. Her prior experience as senior staff at the Commission as well as her extensive work in public advocacy to close the digital divide and make communications services accessible to all Americans, will aid the FCC as it works to expand and protect our nation's infrastructure.
“We look forward to working with Chairwoman Rosenworcel, Commissioner Sohn, and the entire Commission and staff in support of policies that promote, protect and enhance GPS.
“GPSIA also applauds the nomination of Alan Davidson to serve as head of NTIA. This is a critical position in the national effort to expand broadband coverage, manage federal spectrum holdings, and guard against harmful interference. We are confident Alan will continue to provide strong leadership in the agency’s efforts to protect vital satellite-based services like GPS.”
